Some Pacestar Software products are available in a discounted Home and Student Edition to provide a more affordable option for students and for personal and casual use. In consideration of the discounted prices, the Home and Student Editions have some functional limitations, and some usage restrictions imposed by the license agreement.

Functional Limitations

Home and Student editions of the software include most of the product capabilities, but with some notable exceptions. A few key power features are excluded. They are features that are considered less likely to be used by individuals and students, more valuable to companies, and more costly to support. The table below shows which features are excluded.

Usage Restrictions

A Home and Student license can be used only for personal use and not in connection to any business or for-profit enterprise. This includes personal planning, household use, private projects, hobbies, and usage by students currently enrolled in a recognized educational institution. It also includes personal use in connection with unpaid volunteer work when purchased by and used exclusively by the licensee (an individual) not reimbursed by another source.

A Home and Student license cannot be used for any other purpose. A standard license is required for any other usage including business use of any kind, government offices, non-profit organizations, charities, religious organizations, churches, political organizations, and so on. This includes when the product is used for training or education within such organizations. A standard license is also required for home businesses, consulting, contracting, sole proprietorships, partnerships, or other activities intended to produce a profit or income, no matter the size or scope.

We recognize that many non-profit organizations, charities, and community organizations have limited funding and do valuable work. Even though they do not qualify for the Home and Student discounted license, some may qualify for similar discounts on a case-by-base basis.
